Fashion Merchandise Buyer

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Fashion Merchandise Buyer to join our team. This role combines strategic fashion buying with hands-on garment merchandising to deliver trend-right, commercially viable products. You will play a critical role throughout the product lifecycle from concept to showroom distribution and sales optimization, in close collaboration with designers, suppliers, manufacturers, and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth market research and trend forecasting to identify opportunities and guide product strategy.
• Evaluate and enhance the private brand portfolio, identify gaps, and initiate relevant product development initiatives.
• Collaborate with design and product development teams to develop seasonal ranges aligned with brand identity and market trends.
• Source and assess new suppliers and garment factories, negotiate pricing, lead time and credit terms, and establish strong working relationships.
• Manage the end-to-end garment development process, including tech pack handover, sample development, fabric and trim selection, approvals, and production oversight.
• Lead costing and pricing negotiations to ensure profitability while maintaining quality standards.
• Coordinate closely with factories to ensure timely sample submissions, handle feedback, and resolve development or quality issues.
• Communicate regularly with designers, manufacturers, and QC teams to ensure all product specifications are met.
• Track and manage the full product lifecycle, from initial concept to showroom distribution.
• Work closely with operation and retail teams, setting sales targets, ensuring product placement, and facilitating sales velocity.
• Monitor sales performance and non-moving inventory, and implement corrective actions such as promotions or markdowns.
• Analyze sales trends and consumer behavior to optimize future buys and inventory planning.

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Manufacturing, Textile & Clothing, Retail Management, or related fields.
• 3–5 years of experience in fashion buying and garment merchandising, preferably in a retail or garment manufacturing environment.
• In-depth knowledge of garment development, fabric types, trims, printing techniques, and finishing methods.
• Experience in product costing, factory sourcing, and production management.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyze sales data, optimize assortments, and drive profitability.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage stakeholders effectively.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple timelines and deliverables.
• Proficient in ERP systems, PLM tools, Microsoft Excel, and preferably SAP.
