Policy and Public Affairs Adviser


The New Zealand High Commission in Colombo is seeking a full-time Policy and Public Affairs Adviser to join its close-knit team. This is a busy and stimulating role that offers a unique opportunity to contribute to New Zealand's foreign and trade policy and public diplomacy efforts in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct political, economic, and regulatory analysis for Bangladesh and Pakistan.
  • Promote New Zealand trade, including education services, in South Asia.
  • Support and accompany visiting New Zealand officials and businesses.
  • Support the delivery of development cooperation programmes.
  • Manage the High Commission's social media and communications.
  • Support New Zealand events, including cultural and sports engagement.

Who We Are Looking For:

We are seeking an individual who is **open-minded, curious, flexible, and organized**. You should be skilled at diving into substantive policy detail and switching to operational tasks as needed. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, independent thinker who can offer informed opinions and solutions. A positive outlook and good sense of humor are essential. A strong network of contacts in government, private sector, academia, and civil society is highly valued.

Please note: This position is subject to Sri Lankan local employment law, and you must have the right to work in Sri Lanka. A valid driver's license is also required.
