HEAD OF RESEARCH

People's Bank, a premier financial institution in Sri Lanka, is seeking a talented and dynamic individual to lead its research function as the Head of Research. This is a key leadership role responsible for providing strategic insights and data-driven recommendations to support the bank's long-term business planning.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct high-quality research on macroeconomic trends, industry developments, and customer behavior.
• Support strategic planning by delivering data-driven insights and scenario analysis.
• Develop comprehensive market intelligence reports and economic reviews for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other departments like Product Development, Risk, and Strategy to integrate research.
• Monitor global and local economic indicators and assess their impact on the bank's strategy.
• Guide and mentor a team of researchers, ensuring rigorous analytical standards.
• Represent the Bank in forums, conferences, and meetings.
• Maintain relationships with academic institutions and regulatory agencies.

Eligibility Criteria:

• The candidate should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
• A Ph.D./Doctorate in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field from a UGC-recognized university.
• A minimum of 1 year of post-qualifying experience in economic/market research or strategic planning, preferably in the financial services industry.
• High-quality research publications, preferably in Journal Index of Journal Articles.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
• AI literacy and excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
• Strong knowledge of local and global economic environments and financial markets.
• Proficiency in research tools, data analytics software, and statistical modeling.

The selected candidate will be offered an attractive and negotiable remuneration package. The position is on a contract basis, equivalent to the grade of Assistant General Manager, with performance evaluated annually.
