Accountant Job Vacancy at Milco

Career Insights: Accounting in a State-Affiliated Enterprise (Dairy Industry)

The Accountant position at MILCO is vital for managing the finances of a large-scale, state-affiliated entity in the dairy industry. This role likely involves handling significant volumes of transactions related to milk collection from farmers, production costs across four factories (Colombo, Digana, Ambewela, Polonnaruwa), and the sales network for the Highland brand.

The emphasis on taxation (VAT, SSCL) and RAMIS System experience suggests that the role requires familiarity with the current Sri Lankan tax framework and digital submission process. This type of government-affiliated post offers stability and additional benefits like a fuel limit and a fixed allowance (CoLA), distinct from the private sector structure.

Tips for a Successful Application:

  • Qualification Path: Ensure your CV clearly indicates which qualification path you meet (Degree + 1 year experience OR Intermediate Professional + 2 years experience).
  • Tax & System Skills: If you have experience with VAT, SSCL, or the RAMIS system, highlight these in your CV as they are specified added qualifications.
  • Moral Character: As this is a government-affiliated post, ensure your referees and CV emphasize professionalism and integrity, aligning with the requirement for "excellent moral character."
